The Biden administration imposed export controls on “semiconductor, quantum, and additive manufacturing items for national security and foreign policy reasons.” The controls align with U.S. efforts to limit China’s development in these areas. China has also imposed export controls on germanium and gallium, materials used in making semiconductors and military communications equipment.
